07.18.05 It was the afternoon that we lost electricity. Since moving out of the inner city, our "grid" seems to fail from time to time - especially during summer wind storms. It was hot, humid and muggy. We decided to take a ride in the Jeep to look for "the cause" of our lack of air condtioning and unuseable oven. It was pretty much an excuse to go out and explore, in general.

We first had to wait for the CL&P guys to move the fallen trees from the end of our road. After that, it was over to Advanced Stone to see if the "waterfall" at the quarry fall was running. It flows whenever there is a significant, sudden rain (which there had been). It's dry when the conditions are otherwise.

Then. Bull's Bridge. Walking the stones below the dam is like being on a foreign planet. The circular carvings in the bedrock are caused by stones that circulate in (originally) smaller pockets when the current flows. It slowly eats away at the stone forming those great, unusual "cut-outs."

Jamee and I were watching Ali as she climbed around, and we were joking about her "photo-style" - unsure about what she was actually doing out there. It wasn't until we got home and loaded the images into the computer that we realized she has a significant eye for looking at the details of things. js
